Thank You to Grandma Dobras

A few weeks ago (a bit late on our Thank You, but here it is nonetheless!) we got a special delivery from the States of a book donation from Grandma Dobras, especially for our English Library. We are very appreciative of those books, and just want to tell her we are very thankful for the time taken to peruse books and find those that she felt were especially for our library. Thank you very much from all of us that have access to those books.

We're open once again and we want to see you...

Hey everyone!
The Library is open for business once again!
We'd like to see you all, we have tons of books, a lot of new ones coming in too.
It's Springtime so we want to organize some sort of an activity, nice weather, perfect for sitting outside and reading a good book.
Ideas welcomed.

Grand Opening, What a Day!

Thank you all so much for making this happen. It was absolutely a wonderful chilly kind of day, full of chaos, food, fun and most of all books.
We are all so excited to be able to make this happen for all of our children, it truly was a great feeling.
We have over 450 books to be touched, browsed, read- enjoyed!

A big big Thank You goes to our donors, especially those outside the Playgroup, we got some great acquisitions in the last few days, they made our library all the more special.

Want to report some firsts: First book checked out: Stories of Santa, first book returned was The Princess Gift Book.
68 books checked out today!

Oh, and yes- the donations keep coming in, Thanks and please if you are interested in donating, let us know- theenglishlibrary@gmail.com

A Great Trade

Today we went to trade the adult books parents donated for books for the library. We met with Daniel Zachariah, owner of The Book Cellar, http://bookcellarbsas.com.  We put our books to trade to good use and we were able to acquire lots of new books, including The Rainbow Fish, Oh The Places You Shall Go, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, as well as some young adult fiction, including nine Nancy Drew Mysteries, among many others. (We will add the list of books to the site soon.)
The Book Cellar is located a block and a half from The English Library and Daniel has offered to drop off books parents purchase at The English Library for pick up. The catalog of books is available online on his site so take a look and make your requests.

World Cup Madness

It has begun! After weeks of collecting stickers for his World Cup album, learning the names of the different countries, the flags and a valuable life lesson of trading, my son is home from school watching his first world cup game.  For all of the budding soccer (sorry--football) fans out there, a wonderful book by Anthony Browne titled "Willy the Wizard" will be on loan to The English Library until September 2010.
